Vic: Murdered mother feared witch doctor
An inquest's been told a woman who was beaten to death had been terrified her son-in
law had got a witch doctor to cast an evil spell on her family.
69-year-old MAREA YANN was killed in her Healesville home .. north east of Melbourne
.. on September 29th .. 2003.
Her sister .. CARMELLA SULLIVAN .. has told the Melbourne Coroners' Court Mrs YANN
was upset by the recent separation of her daughter and son-in-law.
Her son-in-law JAMES UNUMADU had threatened to kill his wife PAULINE .. tried to commit
suicide .. and was constantly visiting and phoning his mother-in-law.
Mrs SULLIVAN said a few months before her sister's death .. Mr UNUMADU handed her his
mobile phone.
A man with an African voice spoke .. saying he was a witch doctor and that something
would happen within seven days.
The inquest continues tomorrow.
