QLD: Reinforcements called to huge school blaze
BRISBANE, Dec 7 AAP - Five more fire engines have been called to reinforce the eight
already fighting a huge blaze at a private school in Yeppoon, near Rockhampton in central
Queensland.
The fire broke out at St Brendan's College, a boys' day and boarding school, shortly
before 11am (AEST) and was well alight when firefighters arrived at the scene.
The blaze was first noticed in the school's chapel and involves at least one other
building, a spokeswoman for the Department of Emergency Services said.
She said seven urban and one rural firefighting units are already at the scene, with
a further five rural units on the way.
The large fire is not yet under control, she said.
No one is injured and paramedics are on standby.
