NSW:Man in court for murder of woman in 1991
One of the men accused of sexually assaulting a Filipina woman before murdering her
19 years ago has briefly appeared before court.
40-year-old RODNEY JAMES PATERSON, who was arrested on Tuesday, didn't apply for bail
in Sydney's Central Local Court today and will appear via video link again from Bathurst
jail, for a mention on September 29.
The naked body of 37-year-old PIA NAVIDA was found in the Royal National Park south
of Sydney in 1992.
The cold case was reopened two years ago but the DNA testing that lead to the arrest
of PATERSON, and a second 40-year-old man, was only performed last month.
