SA: Huge wildfire burning in northern SA

Firebreaks have been put in place to try to contain a huge wildfire burning in SouthAustralia's north.

A Country Fire Service spokesman says the fire, believed to have started several daysago, is burning in remote scrub and grassland about 75 kilometres north of Marla.

The spokesman says the fire is estimated to have covered 150,000 hectares, althoughits exact size is not known.

He says the fire isn't as great a problem as it would be in other parts of the statebecause the area is remote and contains few properties.

The spokesman says it's hoped the fire will burn itself out, but bulldozers are onstandby to build more firebreaks if needed.
